The tail pipes can be swapped over. Weld up the hole in it? _________________ 1973 1303 with AB-motor - sporadic

I am in the North Phoenix area..
Where is the best place to post photos of the car ?
I had a SB in 1979 and found this one by dumb luck..
This one is a total time machine...seats have been redone and its been repainted but it is straight as an arrow. has all 5 et26 rims...steering wheel is in great shape...pan is near perfect...still has the foam inserts in the trunk to clear the spare..its a L13M color (sticker still there) totally fun to drive...

Post your pics in the gallery. As for the muffler, replace it with a new one and keep the original tail pipes.

Nice car, wonder why there are no stripes
Don't think the trim on the drip rails or front quarter seam is original though.

The stripes were originally installed by the dealer, though they didn't always do it. They tend to get left off after repaints too. _________________ ~gerb (Todd G)

I know but I don't believe I've ever seen an original Sports Bug without them. The op stated that the car was all original so I assumed that it was original paint.

I don't believe Sports Bugs with stripes were the rule. I'm aware of some original Sports Bugs that were purchased without the stripe. _________________ ___

Yup thats it...LOL....I paid a bit more than that but not much....Took a chance knowing what I know about these cars...I did a buy it now deal...warranty is a joke...50ft or 5min..... ...car is awesome though...I spoke with the previous owner..he had it painted last year and replaced a few items (side mirror that was original !) but mostly the rubber seals around the windows..new back glass (VW replacement cost him 350.00). I am the 4th owner so far.....Needs a muffler as it is shot !
And "YES" I did steal it....those guys had no idea that it was a 1year only Sports Bug. WOO !!!!
