Hi Folks, I recently bought a 1969 Karmann Ghia ex US over here in New Zealand, the car is amazingly original and untouched and came with a Concord HP-100 radio cassette deck with wood grain front etc, amazingly it works well on radio but the cassette motor seams a little weak but still plays.
Can anyone shed some light on this as its not a brand I'm familiar with, according to the sticker it was sold by Westland International in LA.
Any information would be appreciated....a service manual would be legendary. _________________ Rusty 61 RHD Karmann Ghia Coupe - Resto in progress....slowly

It's probably not the motor, more likely bad belts and real sticky old grease. Any competent electronics service center can get it back to operating correctly. |

Concord and Clarion were made by the same company. They supplied a lot of the dealer-installed radios on Japanese cars sold in the U.S. starting in the late 1960s. The Concord name was phased out by the 1980s. Clarion remains one of the largest suppliers of automotive radios to the industry today.
They are good radios--definitely worth repairing. _________________ Thanks,

Thanks guys, it sounds like a keeper so in for a service it goes.
I have read since that the HP-100 was the first economically priced cassette deck available in the late 60's and early 70's so it may be the original as the car only has 88k on the clock and even has the original speaker which still works well. _________________ Rusty 61 RHD Karmann Ghia Coupe - Resto in progress....slowly
