Which is better. I kind of like the spiral binding of the old one. As you can easily keep it open. I used to have that one. But wondering if the new one is any different?

I prefer the "pure Muir," before the extra chapters from other writers were added, but either version will help you fix your car.

Or get the new one, have a bookbinder shave the binding and 3-hole punch it. Then put it in a notebook so you can still lay it flat.

If the new one doesn't have any new information. Then I'll just get the old one.

I have a "bound" edition. It has "High Performance" additions for the vw and i believe a few other bits n pieces. Spiral copies are easier to USE.

The newer ones have a section with changes and additions, to reflect suggestions that readers sent in. I don't know that you would be missing a lot by getting the earlier version. But if you are relying on the Muir book as your sole source of maintenance info then it seems you should get the later version.

Nah. I'm getting the official Volkswagen shop manual too. Forget the actual name.

EDIT - Volkswagen Beetle and Karmann Ghia Service Manual, Type 1: 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 (Volkswagen Service Manuals)

I read somewhere that there's been some (minor) progressive corrections to his text (along with all the other random chapters and blah blah).
