Well the car has been color sanded for the most part and we picked it up very carefully and hauled it back home. Now the fun begins.

The good news is that my boys really like the color, I'm relieved.

And this is currently where the build is at.

Lot of work left to do, but at least close to putting things back together.

Looking awesome! What color are you doing the interior? Or are you just going with what it already has? My '66 was originally Pearl White with a Pigalle (red) interior, according to my VW Birth Certificate. Nice combo, but unfortunately the budget doesn't allow for a like-stock restoration for me...

That looks really nice! I'm at the very beginning stages with my car, and I'll be following your build thread very closely!

That's the same color combo my '66 has. My car got new Pigalle seat covers and a new head-liner about 2 years ago. Now it ready for a set of door panels.

Thanks guys.

Well the original interior color was Pigalle, I want to keep the car as clse to its roots as possible but I'm not sure I can handle all of that red interior. I'm not opposed to it just yet.

Any suggestions as to what would go with Pearl White?

Oatmeal, Gray, Maybe red seats with off white piping....haven't gotten that far yet and its probably a long ways off. We will probably put the seats back in as they are until more funds are available for door cards, seats, carpet.

Obviously we have to get the headliner in soon. Any suggestions on that as well?

One piece or go OE?

thanks for the help.

I don't know of a color other than Pigalle Red that looks as good in a Pearl White Sedan.

Our Complete body rubber resto kit arrived from JBUGS. I had the boys go through the check list and confirm that we have all infinite number of parts that were supposed to be there. We also ordered the Wiring Works kit at the same time from them.

The quality of the rubber looks and feels good. Most of the kit is German rubber or I had them swap some parts we didn't need (Already have pop-outs so we don't need quarter window rubber, or misc stuff I had gotten with the car) for better parts such as the fender beading from Taiwan to German. I'm not trusting cheap parts to the Arizona heat and sun. things dry up fast out here. Jbugs was somewhat helpful with allowing us to change a few things out of the kit. they should be $$$....

Yes Sir it is. I'm very proud of that car. I bought it last February.

Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing / replicating the front access holes on this new clip? its still bothering me a little. Do I leave it as is and just get a cover for the round hole or try to replicate the "D" holes?

The one small problem is that paint is done though...

Personally, I'd leave it for now and work on getting the rest of the car finished. That's something you could come back to anytime or learn to live with as it really should have been addressed prior to paint. Once the spare tire is in there you won't even notice it.

At this point I would leave it. If you cut the metal you will leave a bare edge that will rust. As was stated, you won't even see it with the spare tire in place.

you could fake it by sticking a D cover on the pass side with HD double sided tape or panel glue. for the drivers side get a D cover and make up a custom bracket or two, weld them on the back of the cover and fit it over the round hole.

looks like you are having fun.

Yeah, I'm thinking I will just get a round cover like on the bottom access hole and put it on the hole on the right and leave the rest as is. I'd hate to do any damage that isn't necessary even if it doesn't look factory.

Am I the only one that has used a Brazilian front clip and run into this issue?

thanks guys.
