After a few months on the road with my freshly restored / rebuilt Safari buggy, I need to replace my transmission synchronizers. has anyone done this job ? I have replaced them in larger truck transmissions in the past but I don't know if any special pullers or press jigs are needed for a VW trans.

The VW trans requires several special tools. For just one transmission it's much cheaper to buy a rebuilt trans from a good shop (Rancho, Benco, etc...).

If you actually drive your VW, you need www.AirMapp.com

My boss told me I need to work on my mutli-tasking. So now when I use the bathroom at work I surf The Samba on my iPhone.

Call Geno Boyd, that's all you'll need. He recently rebuilt my '67 tranny, very reasonable and superior workmanship. Go a Google search on his name, or look for posts here on thesamba.

"A+" recommendation from me!
