when replacing the cargo floor in a barndoor, will the floor have to be barndoor only or can a late 55 and later cargo floor work? I know the rear firewall / luggage area is different but my concern is the floor that rests above the belly pans. Thanks |

The overall stamping of the sheet metal is different, the flat strips where the middle seat bolt down are in different places, ofcourse the area above the shift coupler, the ribs run straight into the bulkhead, the outter sill by the cargo door is different.....If you don't care about correctness just slap a later one in there.....most peple wouldn't be able to tell if you did a good job. |

The only differance I think there can be is where the seat base mounting plates are.
I have a 54 kombi, and strangly there are no seat base mounts? so it seems I have a panel van floor.
If your just replacing sections I would try to cut some sections out of a bus in a scrap yard as the profile of re-pro floor panels in not the best. _________________ (06:31:07) RoachGhia: "i drink dick way too fast" |

Brick Top beat me to the punch, but you mentioned that you have an early 55 floor section? As long as it's an early 56 bus that holds the 6 leg middle seat, it's the same! My old 55 Kombi, I think it was an April of 55? Right Linda? And BBJ's 56 deluxe had it also.

Yep, April '55, same floor as Barndoor. All Wolfsburg Buses would have the same floor. _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

I have a set of later Brazilian floor halves for my BD, apart from the stamping being different they definately fit. I also converted them from loading doors on the right to loading doors on the left. This was straight forward. _________________ 1954 Barndoor

I just cut the whole rear cargo floor and doglegs out of an early 56 std micro to use on my 54. Now my question is what is the easiest way to remove the floor from the cross braces. Am I going to have to drill out every spot weld? _________________ GFK

Skim , yea or use them if they are in good shape, there are 2 welds per rib that touches the x beams, except for the front top hat i think and may be the rear top hat and they have 1 every time it dips. Get a good spot weld bit if you attempt it not the hole saw type, actually ya might oughta get several, those welds do not give up easy, later, oh and on the rocker thread i'll take some pics today and try to post tonite. later |

Maybe it was purchased without rear seats?
Does it have M-code 13?
Interesting... |
My Kombi also seems to have been ordered without rear seats. We cannot find any traces of mounting points.
Short of getting a birth certificate, is there any other way to find out what options a barney was ordered with?
Am I right in assuming that the term "M-code" is used with some poetic justice in this context? I thought that term only came into play later on?
Thanks.

I think you have to order the sheet...
M-code often refers to the plate but as far as I know the term M-codes is still correct before the plate existed. M=option.
I have seen someone post a photo of their front bulkhead where the M-codes were spray-painted on there, it was revealed by carefully media blasting that area. _________________ How to Post Photos
