Tore down an 82 stroke engine with a dms crank and found these rods.
Anybody know who made them? 5.3" length 1.815" rod bearing 3/8' bolts.

Gene Berg made a Rabbit rod crank years ago and discontinued it for problems!

Got the case split, found center main bearing pretty worn out as well as the rod bearings in rough shape. The case bearing saddles look awesome not pounded out and std std!! I was hoping it would at least be a 82 stroke with stock rods so All I would have to buy are rods but looks like I'll be shopping for a crank and rods. a few more questions, would rabbit rods have 3/8 on them? or are these copies of rabbit rods? and what's should I expect the value of a 82 stroke rabbit roded crank to sell for?? Thanks for all the input!

Must be aftermarket rods but early 1.6/1.8 watercooled rod is same 136mm "porsche" length.

Not worth much, I mean, it's cool but there is a reason nobody is doing this anymore Shocked

That is a rabbit rod crank set-up....

Those were marketed by CB Performance for awhile. There might have been some other companies selling them also.

I do not think Gene Berg ever offered this. He was in favor of a thick narrow rod journal, like the Porsche design.

They were never very popular because they flexed and broke due to the small cross section of the rod journal.

I wouldn't sell it to anyone.

Joe- The Bergs played with them for a while and then dropped the combo from their catalog.

Wow, I would be surprised.... I'll have to look through me archives.

I have literature spanning almost 30 years from the Bergs.

I think it would be use able for a mild . I'm looking set my Rev limiter on kill. Fortunately the case and heads are in great shape. I think I would pass this along to some one that could use it.
