I posted before about having seemingly low compression, but it does not smoke and drives pretty well. I also held the filler cap over the filler while it idled and it did not blow too hard. However after every run there is more and more oil accumulating around the engine, under the oil sensor, the oil filler cap, and over the push rod tubes. I would like to not have to pull the engine, but I am stumped. Today smoke was coming out of a port on tube under the carb.

Get a leakdown test.

I had low compression--according to my cheap compression tester--but I did not have any oil blow-by.

I took the car in for a professional leak-down test, and my compression is actually very good.

It cost me $97.00, but was worth the information I received.

Harbor Freight has a leak down tester for $40. Search there for Item #94190.

Harbor Freight is where I got my woefully inadequate compression tester. It was so far off the true compression that I threw it away.

Finally a voice of reason when will people quit flocking to this Chinese clearing house buying this cheap shit that does not work. Buy good used American made from eBay or Craigslist. Much of the better made American tooling comes with lifetime guarantee.
