I need a jack for my 70 ghia. Are the jacks for these universal? Planning on going by a junk yard to see if I can find one.

I'd suggest a bus type jack rather than the standard vw ratchet type jack. They just seem more secure.

Personally, in my experience, a universal scissor jack is way more stable than the vw design, that is what I keep nowadays. The type II jack , although cool with crank, is way more prone to buckle because of the flip down insert. I have had it happen before.Vw jacks work OK on flat dry pavement, But how often do we get to choose where we break down........

Just another opinion to consider.

X2. I keep a scissor jack under the rear in my car if I need to use it. The stock original is up front for show.
