Did some work on the bus this week.
Replaced the rear window seal , metal under old seal is clean and dry.
Replaced old and dry license plate light seal , new stainless steel screws too. Original light is in good condition.
Cleaned up a bit the license plate and frame , also replaced with stainless steel screws. Last registration registration is from 1985.

Don't think it has not crossed my mind , I first need to get it running tough hopefully soon.

My dad and uncle started Trinity Campers in Ojai CA, my mom sewed those awesome plaid curtains. I have a very sentimental thoughts of this VW bus. Have been looking for one for a while to restore for my dad. He sold his that he drove to Alaska in 1974 and I think it ended up in Hawaii. If anyone has any leads on any of the Trinity Campers please let me know. Thanks so much!

That is very cool Scott! Great to have you on the samba! Do you have any old pics from when your family were doing conversions? _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

Yeah stuco...I think my dad has some old slides of the business. I'll see if I can dig them up. I told him I found one of his buses that he converted and he was shocked that there was such a huge following of them. He's been out of the loop on the subject for quite some time. |

I can't believe what a difference your polishing job made, looks like new paint! I really dig the gold manifold too, I might borrow that idea for my engine bay...

It was very nice to talk to you on the phone Scott , very cool story about your dad and uncle doing this conversions for a few years.
Today I continued replacing window seals.
They are currently working on rebuilding the engine and in the meantime I will have all the tin sandblasted and painted. |

That bus is the splitting image of my '73 Sportsmobile that I bought in Van Nuys back in 92 or 93. Same color. Same curtains. Same stainless steel access hatchs in the back. I did swap in some Jalousie on the slider.... Bought mine from an old German guy who owned his own VW shop and was closing. It was my first of many buses. Still have it in the garage waiting on a refresh. It was also a DD until a coupla years ago. Never heard or saw anything about Trinity Campers, however. Nice to see another!.. It's like discovering you have an identical twin late in life.....

Found a matching rear bumper.
Installed the awning that came with the bus , it's all complete but I'm glad I had the owner's manual to see how it works.
I need to do some work on the retracting mechanism , hopefully just cleaning.

Replaced all tires and wheels with new Hankook RA08 on powder coated wheels and beauty rings.
This tire was still holding air
Also removed the front tire carrier , I'm saving it but I think it looks better now.
