Rear engine guard mounting holes

I want to put a rear engine guard on my 73 but my engine does not have the mounting holes. The bosses are there but they are not drilled and tapped. Can I drill and tap them and what size are they?

OK just checked mine and if you are talking about the one that goes across the back of the engine across the oil pump the 2 top ones are 10mm X1.50 and you use a 11/32 drill to drill the hole for the tap. The bottom one is 8mm X1.25 and you use a 17/64 drill. Make sure you mark it before you drill the holes. Hope this helps. And be careful on the top holes and do not go to deep.

Can you measure the depth of the holes?

The top bolt holes are 30mm deep and the bolt is 46 mm long. The bottom hole is 20mm deep and the bolt is 32mm long.

You will probably need multiple different taps for each hole, starting, plug, and bottom.
