Installing a CV flange on transaxle and there is a small amount of in an out movement after I install the snap ring. DO I need to be concerned. |

That movement is necessary to allow for the difference in distance between the wheel and the transmission at the top or bottom of the suspension's travel. |

It sounds like you saying the inner race is moving on the shaft. Is the inside cone washer on backwards? |

Thanks for the help. What I am referring to is where the CV flange fastens to transaxle. put in new seals in trnsaxle and when I put on the CV flange and Circle clip on to fasten the flange to the transxle it has a little play in and out.
I think from reading its supposed to have a little play. |

If the motion is between the axle and the CV joint it is supposed to be there. If the flange on the drive stub to the wheel moves in and out you have a problem. Your brake drum is tightly mounted to the drive stub? |

Looking at Fig. 6-10 in the Trans./Rear Axle chapter of the '70-'79 Type I Bentley manual, and the
relevant text, one gets the impression there is not supposed to be any axial play of the drive flange,
and in fact installation of the flange may require compressing the spacer ring underneath. _________________ '67 bug: seized by the authorities
