I have a 65 bug that I converted to 12v last year. Everything has been working for a year. Yesterday was driving to work and I honked the horn my wiper came on and stayed on. Horn doesn’t work now and wipers stay on. No fuse blown. Thinking ground may be shorted. Any ideas?

More than likely you have a short in the column. There should be a single wire that runs from the horn to the column (connecter) then up the center of the column to the horn button. Check and see if it is broken or shorted. If not it may be in the contact of the button. Not sure how this could happen but weird is weird.

I will look at that. I didn't think it would be my wire running threw my steering column because I replaced it last year. But stranger things can happen.

I recently rewired a 66 ; 65 is the same where the wipers AND the horn share the same fuse ...BUT ....nothing else....... Clean all the grounds and be aware that new paint can interfere with grounding too .

Thanks will do that. I think it has to be a grounding issue.
