Technology is advancing at an astounding rate...... We all know that.

Heavy glass framed solar panels are already so Yesterday!

Now this company is incorporating solar collection into a "cloth", I assume a heavy Canvas or Vinyl product......
Application is for Stadiums and parking areas right now but.........

Looks like they're pretty inefficient, similar to the smaller format "flexible" panels. Not a big a deal when you have a gigantic roof, but may be problematic on a Vanagon.

Agreed though - this is one area that will be really fun to see what happens in the next 5-10 years...

Another useless Brainfart

I can understand the usefulness of this type technology for large flat roofs etc.

Butt-tttttttttt

Just how would you mount it to a Westy Top.. Guess cut a hole in the middle of the cloth for the skylight etc. Ohooo and don't forget to try to re-solder the micro wiring connectors together so the rest of the solar cells can generate a charge.. Not to mention the lower channels of the fiberglass poptop so this idea would have to be almost form fitted. Shocked
