You don't have to be a resident of Vermont to register a vehicle.

People have now pointed me towards South Dakota and Montana also.

Interesting that there are states that don't require residency to register a vehicle.

I know this doesn't look like progress, but it is. The weather was finally warm enough to get the part van out of my garage and take it to them recycler. That means the Blu.0 van can finally go inside so that work can be done!

Normally they come over with a fork lift to take these things off. They seemed too busy today so I just put the ramps down and gave it a push! Picked my ramps up and left.

Okay. Progress is starting to happen.

Here is a sneak peak of the Beetle Kill Pine interior. This is the unfinished table.

Many parts have been ordered and this thing will at least start to come together a bit soon.

One thing I can't stand is the fishbowl effect of having clear windows. I prefer to have some privacy inside, especially when just sitting around stealthily in the van.

In an effort to keep inside temps town I elected to try ceramic window tint this time. Since most shops want about $750 to do Ceramic tint I decided to do it myself. This is the first attempt I've made at tinting windows in about 30 years!!!

I took some of the interior panels out to make sure the tint fit right.

I really only screwed up the rear window and need some more tint to make another pass at it.

Nice!

So what did the tint cost you material wise?

I am going the ceramic route as well this spring, but was planning on having it done at a shop. Maybe I can do most all of it on my own (save the rear window, which would be the most difficult i think).

Tint alone cost about $225. Shocked I paid less than that to have the whole other van done! Shocked

Looks like another great build thread is coming. Very Happy

Is Blu.0 already lifted? What tires (and size) do you think you'll be getting?

This van does sit quite a bit higher already! I'm planning on putting at least 215/70/16s on it. I've read rumors of 235/75/16s fitting with minor feder work. Shocked Since I need to do body work and paint to this van to bring it up to snuff, I'm considering the minor fender work.

Interesting. I imagine you would get enough clearance at the top for 235/75/16s if you added a lift.

Would you cut away those two bottom points of the wheel well and then what, add some kid of fender flare to cover it cosmetically? Do they make generic fender flare kits?

I have similar goals here... maybe not that big of a tire, but something that will take me a little bit further into the Colorado backcountry, and give the van a bit of a tougher stance/look.

I measured the fender opening yesterday and its 28.5" without trimming. You could gain abou an extra inch without changing the cosmetics much. Just trimming and rolling the lower edges.

Looks like the easiest tire to fit would be a 225/70/16(for a 16" whee). Those measure about 28.4" and narrower than my 255s now

I think it would be hard to get enough lift on one of these to get the bottom of the arch up in the narrower section of the tires. At least to a point where it makes a difference.

I may play with it though since I've now installed several lifts on these.

Having done these, what lift solution would you recommend for 215/70/16s?

EDIT: Scratch that... looks like there really aren't any 215/70/16s with an acceptable load rating.

The BFG AT and a Big O have a tire in that size that should be the ideal rating.

I'll research other sites then.

How would you lift for that size?

Another question...

Where did you order your tint from? Seems like everything was in order and you were happy?

...hope I'm not being a pest, but I'm learning a lot from your projects, thank you.

Not a pest at all! I love open discussion about this stuff, helps me and everyone learn more, think more about the topic! Very Happy

I think the hardest thing in the past about window tint was cutting it to the perfect size. Ordering it pre cut makes it a really simple job. You still have to cut out for the side window handles and the rear tail light though.

Weather has been nice.

Not much time to work on it but did roll out the new flooring to start working on it. This will cover the entire van from the front seats back.

Should make for a durable and easy cleaning floor for outdoor adventures!

Its a slightly dark grey that should give a nice sporty feel to the inside of the Eurovan.

Samba has already started the testing!

Stripped all the carpet off the wood subfloor today.

Then installed all the new vinyl flooring, and color matched the rear bed support legs to the outside of the van.

I also cut down the passenger seat base to get it ready for a seat swivel. This way it will be at the stock height with the swivel on it. I also painted this with the same Techno Blue metallic as the outside of the van. Still have some more custom touches planned for the seat base but this was all for today!
