Hey everyone, I'm at my wits end with my 72 super beetle. i can't seem to get the thing to stay running on all 4 cylinders. its a stock motor running a weber 40idf right now and after about 10 mins one side of the engine just drops out and starts to come back when you give it some gas. Heres the funny part. i put a 44idf on it and it happened to the opposite side! really miss driving it and want to get it back on the road; any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone! |

Get some carb cleaner and start spraying it around EVERY single joint of the intake system. Where the end castings bolt to the head. Around the boots that go from the center section to the end casings and the base and throttle shaft of the carb. I can tell you this from experience, most of the rubbers connectors that connect the end castings to the center section are absolute crap today. You may have a small split in one or it may not be sealing the two manifold sections together good. _________________ 69 road Bug 2110
