I have a '75 914 1.8. Ran into some issues with horn. I know horn itself is ok (it will beep if I shorten the signal switch ring). The signal switch brass ring has a hole in it so that's one of my issues. Another issue is I believe the piece with the wire that bolts to the steering wheel is no good as the cable looks very worn.
I tried bending that brass piece in half to cover the hole and turning the steering wheel ring around a bit to make contact but it still won't work. So my question is - how hard is it to get all this stuff? Do I need a '75 specific signal switch or will any fit? Will a Beetle switch be electrically compatible? The whole assembly looks very much like the one on my '72 Super. _________________ '72 Super Beetle sunroof sedan |

Get a good used wiper switch from High Preformance House in Redwood City as they have all the parts you need. Good guys. On a 75 most of them had "flick wipe" or intermittant wipers so you need to find the correct switch or you'll just have 2 speed. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

I wasn't asking about the wiper switch. That one works just fine. This is more about the turn signal switch which is separate. _________________ '72 Super Beetle sunroof sedan |

I think the turn signal switch is the same for 75-76 914's and a beetle of those years too. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

Yeah, I swapped the turn signal switch for a brand new one. Also swapped the horn ring/signal canceler for a good one. Still doesn't work. Any ideas? _________________ '72 Super Beetle sunroof sedan |
