All,

I have had a couple of rims widened by a reputable shop. The process was to cut out the center and put new hoops on them.

In order to install and balance the tires I CNCed a balancing ring. There are people now selling them here on the Samba but no one was selling them at the time. The Ring has zero runout.

The rims were fine but it appears that the tire shop has warped the centers when they mounted/balanced the tires. They are adamant that they did not do this but I have no way to support my case..other than my word.

Is there any way to straighten the centers>? They are bad enough that at slow speed (5 mph)the car actually shimmies and whenjacked up, I can spin the wheel and see the rim wobble. Rotating them a hole either way simply moves the wobble so it is not the drum.

Thanks
Chris

if you measure each tang where the hole is for lug nut you might be able to see which are bent and re-bend them. place the wheel down on smooth flat surface and measure each tang. I've been able to save a few stock wide five wheels this way. Worth a try

Hard for me to imagine Mounting & Balancing bending/warping steel wheels. The welding seems more likely to me if they wobble. Take them to a different welder would be my thought.
