Great shots!! The Muster was a great success . I lost the shift coupler set screw and Bubba had a spare (what are the odds!!!???). We had rain,hail,clouds,sun,and...ATVs crawling up our butts! Great crew and wonderful scenery. Thanks to all that attended! Anyone have videos??? _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

What a great event with a great group of people! It was a blast meeting all of you and hanging out.
Here's how the event went for me. I left early Friday morning and ran into Bubba on the way down the east side of Wolf Creek Pass. We headed to the next town for breakfast then we split up. I drove up to Salida to pick up my buddy Johnny. We had lunch there before heading back south to the UFO Watchtower. There Johnny and I begun to drink quite heavly, with in a few hours Manfred and Norm showed up. Later that night Pat and Shannon showed up in there 71' Westy. We all were up super early Saturday morning to meet the rest of the crew. After a fuel stop we headed into the mountains to meet the group. There were 12 buses altogether of all different models. After hanging out for a bit we hit the dirt roads for some fun. We stopped just before the top of Marshall pass at the Colorado Trail where there was a bathroom. We hung there for a while the continued on. We stopped towards the bottom of the pass for lunch, which was a blast. After lunch we popped out of the mountains for a quick drive on RT50. Here we stopped for beer and gas. No beer there. . We proceeded to head up Cumberland Pass where we were harassed by ATVers,'F-ing A-holes. There were up our asses, passing on both sides of you, it was totally crazy. We stopped at the top of Cumberland Pass for a bit, sure was pretty up there. We headed down the pass towards Tincup, where we stopped and hung out for a bit. After Tincuo we headed to Taylor Park, where they had a store with Beer!!! After the beer stop we pusses on to Cottonwood Pass and found a great campsite! It was flat, had room for all our buses and had a huge fire pit. We pulled in set up and enjoyed a nice night of BSing. Sunday came way to quick. Most of us were up early and hung out for a bit before we departed around 1030. We then went over Cottonwood pass and stopped at the top, where we ran into some downhill speed skateboarders. Dudes were crazy, they said they hit 60+MPH on the decent. From here we went to Buena Vista where we filled up and headed our own ways. I heDed back to Salida to drop off my buddy and headed back to Durango. My bus did great and my MPGs were off the charts.
We had 1 minor breakdown when Manfred lost the screw to his shift coupler. Then Bubba had his frame crack near the motor mount and they had to add some wire to suspend the engine to make it out. Good times!
Heres a bunch of pics and I have a ton more
Some more of Bubbas carnage, broken frame at the upper shock mount.
Good times. Thank you all for coming!!!

Wow! I have never seen a bus frame crack there and I love the fix, albeit temporary!
Looks and sounds like you had a great time, less the ATV dicks! Glad to hear you had no major mishaps and some spare parts for Manfred.
Speaking of Manfred, when are you going to install the AW top I gave you, or was it sold you? _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

The jealousy is strong with me. Wish I could have made it work, as I have been taunted by my friends for missing. Maybe next time. _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

It really was a great time, 3 Colorado high mtn. passes in one day! All the Bus's had great off road tires and were well prepared (good clearance/extra gas/shovels/spare parts/snack foods). I WILL get the AW top on my bus soon. I have been using it for work (rack is nice) but it will be a camp mobile (only) very soon. I don't see another event for this year..we gave 8 months notice on this one. I would like to see this ad hoc group find a different route every year. Like a fine wine to be enjoyed only once! _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Just a quick post from the Oklahoma guys, we made it back without an issue. We buzzed up cottonwood pass just before you guys did, took in the view, then blazed out through Buena Vista, Salida and found 25 in Pueblo. We stayed Sunday night at Clayton Lake in Clayton, NM. Took the kids to see the Dinosaur tracks then a straight shot back to OKC. I am working on downloading the video from the GoPro, cross your fingers I am smart enough to figure this out.
We enjoyed everyone who attended and the kids were stoked to camp in different places each night. My kids really enjoyed being above the treeline...who knew?? _________________ James

Glad to hear the OK crew made it back (that Avacado Westy was my fave). It was great to see a good turn out of young kids. Thanks to all for keeping it family friendly (Its tough not to cuss continually in today's world). It's important to pass the magic along to the next generation. I have to say the condition of the forest's was alarming (multiple causes for sure). As a lifelong Coloradoan, I've never seen it that dead (or that quiet). _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Donnie and I left on Thursday the 30th. We drove from OKC to Raton, NM. We camped in the Sugarite Canyon State park. The moon was bright and the weather was perfect. Here is a video of the drive up from our campsite to the larger lake up in the park.
More videos to come...

Wow James. The audio pickup on the Go Pro is awesome!
BTW, is your Westy an automatic? I did not hear you shifting. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

What a wonderful trip you all had. Dang that just makes me want to obtain another bay window. The photos are wonderful as well and show just a part of the adventure you all participated in. I am envious. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.
