I got a 66 Bug that had been repainted and it got some new window rubbers. evidently they replaced the roll up window outer scraper that is riveted to the aluminum trim. they cheaped out and either bought some inferior brand, or re-used the good aluminum trim and added a new scraper. They used some hard plastic in place of the rubber scraper, and it does not even touch the glass.

Does anyone offer replacement rubber scrapers that I can rivet to my old aluminum trim? The trim is very nice looking, only the rubber (plastic in my case) scraper is bad. I hate to spend the big bucks to buy an entire assembly.

I do recall when I was a kid, I re-did my 61 window scrapers. I could not then afford the new parts, so I used some garage door bottom rubber seal, cut to fit and riveted to the old aluminum trim. it worked well, although not perfectly stock looking.

I hope to get my 66 perfectly stock looking, so I hope to find some one selling the rubber scraper parts that I can install on my old aluminum trim.

Anyone know of a place where I can get the rubber part without the trim part?

I have never seen just the rubber for sale, but I have never looked for it. That being said you could buy an inner seal and install it to the outer aluminum. WW sells the outer German seals for 52 and the inner for 20. Seems like a lot of work to save 64 bucks though.

yeah But I am cheapo like to save the money for something else on the car have to do something cause the old crummy seal caused the car floor board to flood inside during the last rain storm (door drains plugged too) Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

My friends call me the jew, and I am not even jewish, I can squeeze a nickel so hard the indian jumps on the buffalo's back and rides off, I can stretch a penny so far I can sell it as copper wire, I an so cheap that.......

Besides I hate to waste perfectly nice aluminum trim, it is perfect except for the crummy rubber. One of them things, it is like it is really hard to get wiper blade refills these days, they only want to sell you the whole blade, metal thing and all, not just an refill insert like they used to!!!! Crying or Very sad

Anyway I gather replacement rubber without the trim is not around, so either buy them with the trim or make them and install on my existing trim. I really need to save money for wing window rubber, that is shot, and the guys that painted the car for prior owner even put in the old badly scratched windshield, it is really bad and that needs replacing. yikes my perfect car is a money pit!!!!!
