They are ivory plastic - they are not ribbed like the early type. I think they are the same as the '62-'65 escutcheons except some years of those might have been light grey instead, you can check the online parts list to confirm what years had which. The part number should be something like 241-841-XXXA - so look for it in section 8.

The cargo doors have 2 different styles depending on year but your '61 would have ones that look sort of like the front door handles above but chrome.

My '63 (same as your '61)

Earlier ones (up through 1958?)

Post pics of the 2 you have and we can identify them for you.

My June 61 de Luxe had chrome front door escutcheons.
No reason to believe they were not original, as it was a very complete original bus.
The door escutcheons were slightly deeper than the cargo door escutcheon which was steel, but not polished or chromed like the front door ones.

There's no chrome one shown in the parts list in the cab door listing. I know Raff said his 15-window had a chrome one but I don't think that's normal or correct.

211-872-200 isn't shown in the parts list either, and doesn't follow the same from door code (2XX-837-XXX)

Not sure what that piece you have is, maybe bug or ghia or type-3?

Judging by your handle parts list in your other thread, I'm wondering if you have some parts from a Brazilian Bus.

I don't know Brazilian Bus part #s so I cannot comment if that matches.
Or if they used chrome.

There is a Brazilian 1500 bus parts book on this page at the bottom
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/type2.php
but I do not see any 872 part #s there.
