Just wanted to see if anyone's got any ideas on a problem I am having..
Putting the rocker arms back on, when I TDC it on #1 and tighten down the rocker arms, the arm itself bottoms out on the valve spring (with the adjustment nut screwed out). There is no play. Can't even fit a feeler guage thru (.006) between the spring and rocker arm, seems real stiff.
I was thinking maybe I have the distro-gear in backwards but I thought I remember checking for any play when I jostled the pully left-right and didn't notice any on #1.
I'll have to verify this tomorrow but wanted to see if there is something by chance I am missing...because with me, anything's possible.
Thank you to anyone taking the time to help me out with this issue. |

Any chance you are at the top of the exhaust stroke and not compression? _________________ 1958 Karmann Ghia owner |

Issue Resolved.
When you're taking apart your rocker-arm setup, it's a great idea to make sure that it goes back together in the exact same way it was before you took it apart if you're using all the same parts again.
In my haste I mixed up the rocker arms and shafts. Once I worked it out and got all the parts to where they belonged, everything lined up and I had gaps again with the adjustment screws out and TDC for the given piston number.
Now, off to the next learning experience.
