Welcome!
Breathers on valve covers... Maybe not the best idea as it blows the oil up the pushrod tubes, back to the rocker covers |

Why do you need breathers on the rocker covers anyway?
If the normal breather at the oil filler neck is connected to the stock air cleaner, you get a combination of a slight vacuum in the air cleaner pulling fumes into the air cleaner and a slight positive pressure from the sprial groove on the crankshaft pulling fresh air into the crankcase through the slots behind the engine pulley - combined they very effectively pull fumes out of the crankcase and back through the engine for re-burning.
If you really need breathers in the rockers covers it might indicate worn pistons rings and excessive blow-by. _________________ Rob

Thanks for the replay i just see so many engine runing breathers on there covers i have a new 1915cc and just want it to run good and efficiently would it be acceptable if i just run a breather at the oil neck filler and leave it be im running 44 dual webers with filter screens on top of the stacks and i really dont want to change it. |

Most V8's and such with a valve cover breather filter have a PCV valve that draws air through the filter. I'm going to put filtered air to the valve covers too but I will have a small blower on the oil filler tower to suck air through the whole system. _________________ If a water cooled engine cools its water with air, isn't it just an overcomplicated air cooled engine? |

You really need to hook up some sort of breather. Not just a dangling vent line. Especially since you are just running screens. You will probably have significant blow by in just a short period of time. I forecast a very short engine life for you, probably half of what you should have (if you are lucky). Intake screens are for drag racers or show cars, not for something you are going to drive. But hey, it's your wallet, so to each his own. |
My screens are are double stacked with a filter lining in between:)Yea i was thinking i do need some sort of breather setup |
