Did US supers in 71-72 come with a footrest under the pedals? Or was it just on the passenger side? Or was that optional as well?

I have a euro RHD 71 1302LS vert that came with foot rests on both sides. I'm looking for a carpet kit, but struggling to find one in this combination. Made me wonder if under pedal foot rests were common in the US

I have never seen a Volkswagen with footrests under the pedals.

I can't imagine why they would install a footrest on the driver side, anyway.

US market, never a TypeI pedal foot rest.

Not sure of the years but Australia had angled covers on the drivers side.

This is a type3 pedal cover but you get the idea, Australia was RHD.......

My 1303 had footrests fitted from new on both driver & passenger sides. It's a RHD car, but can't see why LHD would be any different.

I have the original sales invoice, only extras listed were HRW and radio.

No. At least no for my 1970 sedan, and 1971 Super Convertible, as I've had both since early/mid-1970s as second owner, and these were untouched.

Yes, I've done master cylinders and clutch cables on both over the last 42 years, plus I worked on customers' VWs in the mid-1970s, and never saw one of those.

Dodgy - was your 1303 a 1303LS?

Perhaps this was standard fitment only on the LS models?

Were foot rests an option? My 1971 Beetle (standard) original owner car does not have one on the passenger side. But all other Beetles I`v owned over the years have always had them.

No, just a standard 1303. I'm only second owner, and know it wasn't mucked about with before I got it.

Seems weird to me that US Beetles would be supplied without this part, generally they had higher spec than Euro models, if anything
