So heres my delima, ive had my 72 super for almost 4 years now and its been in my driveway longer than it was on the road. in that time ive experienced a burnt piston, chewed up valve, new heads, then an engine swap, 3 different carbs, and plenty of other nickle and dime pieces. it currently has a 1600 dual port in it, running a single spanish weber 44idf. thw problem that im having is that after about 5 mins of running one side of the engine cuts out. i tried swaping in my dads 40idf and the other side cut out. ive tried everything from timing to tuning and still cant figure it out. dont get to work pn it much becaues of school but have a few days for break and want to try something. this car has me and my dad stumped so any ideas help and are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Idle jets and/or vacuum leaks are your enemy:)

I had already checked for vacuum leaks throught the entire intake system and the jetting problem should of been cleared up 3 carbs ago (my dads 40idf, holly dual progressive, and 34pic). Thanks for the idea though!

Honestly. I'm not sure. Is it always the same cylinders that stop firing? Are the plug wires good? Distributor cap good, does it have any cracks?

[edit] just realized it happens on both sides. I've never had this happen, perhaps some of thesamba gurus will chime in. My guess is it's electrical.

You might try to get a ohm reading and make sure there is nota breakdown in the wire, check continuity all the way from the cap wire point to end of the plug wire.

Have you spare plug wires?

so quick update, ive got the engine pulled and stripped most of what i needed off of it for the engine out of my dads sand rail. we think it might be a cam issue. turns out he got that engine from some guy that couldnt get it to run years ago. the guy said that he might of put the cam in a tooth off so im "borrowing" the engine from the rail till i get time to split the case and check the cam. thanks for all the support and keep on the lookout, i know ill hace more problems later down the line and ill post when he Baja Blacksheep lives. thanks again!
