|
|
I have a 73 converible beetle and I finally got the ign switch to work. The engine will turnover but will not fire. I've tried to do all the wiring based on the Bentleys book but I've had better luck asking around on this website. I went and got a voltage tester (think that's what it's called) and my coil isn't putting out any power from either terminals. Here's some pics.
The two white wires are hooked to carb (+) and the green wire to the distributor (-)
Any help will be greatly appreciated |

The key is on when you test, right? Test quick then shut it off; leaving the key on too long could burn your points up.

Key on, engine off, you must have 12v to the pos side of the coil. If not trace back to the ign switch. You have a problem |

x2
The black (#15) wire from the ignition switch makes a stop at the fuse box #11/#12 fuse before running to the ignition coil. If you don't read 12v on the black wire at the ignition coil, find the other end at the fuse box and confirm it is connected.
You can also check the voltage at the #11 and #12 fuses while the ignition is ON. They should read 12v. _________________ AshMan40
