Just opened my new German gasket kit today.
Found 3 O-rings that I'm not really sure where should go. Can someone please give me some pointers?
Thanks... |

L to R+ oil pump, taco plate and the third looks like the sump plate, is it stiff fiber or a rubber ring? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Somewhere in the package you should have a flywheel o-ring. The white one if it is an o-ring looks a bit thick for the flywheel and the flywheel ones I have seen have always been black with a graphite coat when new, but don't know what else your white one would be.

Open the plastic bag up and Lay out and number the gaskets. If you want to know where they go. |

It looks like the flywheel O-ring is teflon.(white)
Nothing else in the gasket bag comes close.
Usually it's graphite colored.
Time marches on. |

Thanks guys,
My engine was partly disassembled before I've gotten it. Normally I'll take pics before tore down..
There should be an O-ring around/near the flywheel seal. This was removed on my engine. Where should it go precisely?
I have Haynes - but can't find anypics of this.
My engine is a Type4 - AP 1800
Thanks... |

The O-ring fits into a recess of the flywheel itself, the working surface is
the inner diameter of the O-ring, yours may be smashed so flat you
can't make it out, but it's there, near the crankshaft bolt holes.
Use a pick to start it. |

Thanks,
Excellent pic.
I can see that #4 and #23 - were not present when I took it a part. Should both be present in a std. gasket kit?
Thanks again,
appreciate.... |
