Hello Eric,
The Denzel is an very unknown sportscar, don't feel alone. Most of us don't have the funds to touch an auto of that caliber.
Thank You for sharing!
Merry Christmas and Best Regards,
Al |

Eric,
Thanks for contacting the seller. I would have done it, if you hadn't already.
I don't know what the rest of the samba world thinks, but $500 is right about what I expected. Rumor has it that a Bay Area Denzel owner turned down a larger sum for his car earlier this year. But that is a rumor.
From an investment standpoint I think $500k for a Denzel is better than $230k for a BD Deluxe or $200k ish for a Heb.

Yeah... nah. For me a collector car must be recognizable and attractive.
Except if it's a VW Country Buggy |

$500k as an Investment?
I do not see much possibility for a profit there.
I would think there is a very small group of VW/Porsche nerds with deep pockets that might be interested in a Denzel for such a price. If at all.
A Denzel is almost unknown for a wider public.
But a Heb is known and desired by every VW guy worldwide.
One for sale stirs up massive interest immediately.
It will be sold much easier than a Denzel. _________________ Master of my domain! |

I feel like $500K should be a car that has some actual demand and is a known car in the general collector marketplace. |
I completely agree. It's an awkward looking car, at best. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Well, kind of "cute" ugly...

I kinda like it, it's in the bugeye/midget vein. Sort of a British-German mix. But for $500K you could get a whole stable of Ferraris, Porsches and Jaguars.

It looks like a little sister to a Miata.

A 500k Denzel fits into your collection... after you have:
-a bevy of 356A, B, & C cars bought through private brokers.
-a body bumper pre a
-a Carrera Speedster and GT coupe
-a 1979 triple black super beetle convertible with 5 miles on it
-a 904
-one or two 550's
-a 21 window bought at auction for 23 money (while drinking) to take the grandkids for ice cream.
-a 2008 "frog" GT3RS 911
-a 2016 GT3RS 911 in PTS mexico blue on order
You also need a huge 5 car tractor trailer race rig, a mechanic, and a prepaid spot in the pits at (insert track name) on most weekends.
You sold some sort of telecom business 20 years ago...
The Denzel will sit in the pits next to the 904 and carrera speedster while you drive the GT3 around the track. _________________ some cars
