Econo motors.

when I was little I used to drive by there a few times a week in the back seat of the car looking at all the vw cars and things. Not knowing that the one under the sign would be painted by Richard Mc Peak. With some sort of custom stripe or design. It usually had a big price tag on it and changed often. Years later I was working as a spray painter at Mc Peaks painting driving my VW to work. It was then that I found out who painted those cars. Also when Joe Vittone would come by for a visit. Seemed like the world would stop for a second. Didnt really know who he was much at the time. Didnt really think about Empi. Nor did I really think about Techtonics being next door. Techtonics was Darrel Vittones business after shutting down the race shop. I did know that Darrel was a huge vw guru but didnt really think about the testing he did on air cooled vw. Looking back it was a really fun time. Got to do artwork and get paid. Also hung out with some really cool guys like Collen and Darrel Richard Mc Peak and his son Greg. . I still remember asking Darrel a question about an air cooled vw when his reply was we only do water cooled now we dont talk about those air cooled any more. Was actually shocked at the time so I remembered it. Good to see Darrel is back doing what he started with which is Air cooled. Look up the 36hp speed challenge at mojave. He has a record set that would be really hard to beat.
