I'm currently in the process of picking up a 1992 Jetta gl It's got less than 100,000mi on it manual trans. I have only seen some pictures of it taken in the snow. I am supposed to go check it out Sunday. I bought a 63 bug as a daily and would kind of like to have a water cooled so I don't freeze to death. What kind of problems are common in the 92's? Is there anything particular I should pay close attention to before I make my offer? I appreciate any and all help. Thanks in adavnce! |

I have a '92 gl automatic with 173k for my winter car. Really not a whole lot of issues with these cars. I do know heater cores are a common failure point in them. I had to replace mine. The digifant system can be real picky about clean grounds so if any issues come up check those first. Exterior door handles are another common failure but not specific to '92s. Overall mine has been good to me and i have no complaints. The 1.8 8 valve engine is pretty much bullet proof as long as you keep oil in it. _________________ '70 ghia
