The configuration of your exhaust system may interfere with the stock style hitches. Is you exhaust stock?

Ron,

Have you ever installed a Thingshop hitch on a car Thing with a small sump. I have a 1 1/2 qt sump that hangs down less than 2 inches. I emailed TheThingShop and they didn't think it would work but were not completely sure.

73 style won't for sure. I have not installed a Thing Shop hitch. Your sump, is this the small round the size of the plate or a square type that covers the bottom of the engine about 14 x14 in.

I don't think a hitch that hooks to the frame horns will work. I have the same sump on my purple car.

Whatever you do, don't install a hitch that uses the bumper as its only means od support.

Here is some ancient information I found in my "library".
I believe these were "dealer installed" options.
The first two pages are for 1973; the last two are for 1974.
Good luck, Mondshine
