Got a question for buggy owners/builders. Today I was setting my torsion bars and spring plates for drag racing. In doing so I had the buggy on a 2 post lift & needed to raise the lower shock mount to install shock and noticed the torsion housing flexed upwards about 3/8s of an inch. When I lowered jack it returned to original position. I checked the other side and it moved upward when jacking up on lower shock mt. But not as much movement. The body is not tied too the stock mt. Areas like the original body would be to spring plate torsion arms leading to top shock mount. Sorry no pics. I'm thinking when I install roll cage I could tie torsion tower mt. Areas together & stop movement. Has anyone seen this before. I looked closely at area where tunnel was cut to shorten pan & at area where torsion tubes come out of tunnel for cracks and everything looks good. Looking for comments/advise |

Ditto.
A torsion housing moving is dangerous. Pay close attention to see if it is the body moving and not the chassis flexing. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

I did like Joe M said look& look again I found the cause. The mount braces at the outside ends of torsion tubes are not connected to the pan, the pan appears to be tweeked up. Meaning there is a 1/4 inch gap on left side a little less on right side. I'm thinking I can cut a steel block piece and weld in to fill the gap & may tie further cage into torsion housing. |
