Hello Samba.
The following pictures are from my 71 standard beetle. The pictures are of the passenger front wheel well and fender. It was bought by the original owner to use as a winter car in Manitoba, Canada. Hence the rust issues. I don't think they are too major though...
Anyway I am going to clean the areas as best as I can with wire wheel etc.
Once done that I would like to finish the areas with a quick rattle can paint. Before paint though, what is the best product to use? Is a rustoleum rust primer okay?
Not looking for professional finish, just trying to get rid/stop/slow down the rusting.
Thanks in advance.

Use some phosphoric acid or Ospho to stop/seal/convert the remaining rust. Master Series Silver primer is a good base primer to use over that, and then regular primer and paint on top should last a while.

Use a wire or flap wheel to remove grind off the rust that you can see ..... before doing anything else.

A knotted wire wheel on a grinder will take off far more rust (and be way faster) than a wire wheel on a drill like most people use.

And as recommended above, acid treat it (rustmort is a common one in Canada, can get it at NAPA) and paint.

If you don't have a heated work space, I'd avoid Rustoleum, it'll take forever to cure if it cures fully at all.

Thanks for the replies. I will see what I can find this weekend. Being in Canada I think my choices are limited.
Any other products/ideas greatly appreciated. Especially anything easily available in Canada.
Just curious...por 15 is not the product to use for this application?
Thanks again.
