I learned to drive with a stick shift, and frankly I think driving with one makes a better driver. Seen too many automatic drivers fry their brakes by going down long steep grades in Over Drive gear. These folks don't have a clue about shifting, they only use, park, reverse and Drive (or Over Drive). a person that drives a stick has some understanding of engine braking and down shifting, and is thus more intuned with the gearing issues that many automatic drivers don't understand, cause they never had to understand them.

Three cheers for a Bug as a first car. I am second generation Bug driver, did my Dad well, did well by me.

as far as the non roll up windows, my thought is this car was modified, reason unknown, but maybe the mechanism failed and prior owner decided to do away with them. Before purchase I would have the interior door panel removed and inspect what is under it, is the mechanism present? has the door been cut up inside? You want to be sure you can put the wind up windows back in (At least I would) but if the mechanism is missing or the inside of door cut up, you will need to purchase parts and or maybe have to replace a cut up door. Since I think you cant look at the car from where you are at, have the seller pull off the interior trim panel to expose the inside of the door and have seller send you some photos of the inside of the door, just so you can see condition of door and mechanism.

Dash cams must be factory standard in Russia[/quote]

I read that Russian police are so corrupt that a dash cam is a good way to keep from getting blamed in an accident .
I drive trucks with a video witness dashcam ( go pro ). I'm not getting blamed for the idiot in the cars mistake .

maybe it had power windows installed when they updated the interior. switches could be mounted somewhere out of the view in the picture.

Thing is it's need advertised as stock and original. Which it seems it's not. That said it could still be a good car. Hoping to have someone local to it give it the once over for me before I drive to see it.

Thanks for your input guys. Lee

Just seems really screwy with the windows. If the windows aren't intended to go up and down why would it have what appears to be inner and outer scrapers?

My suspicion is the regulators were removed or axed up and the new door panels made to cover the holes. Just seems weird.

I'm also not able to think of any other car that was manufactured without some sort of opening window. A lot of early cars had sliding windows, but this isn't a sliding window set up.
