It doesnt look 67 to me. I think 68-69, so 368 or 369 vin number |

Where on the car is that number? it's got a gas flap fender and 68-69 turn signals, which could just be from other cars I guess. _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I'm sure. Take a pic under the hood, 67 would have had to open the hood to fill the gas. I suppose a whole later front clip could have been used _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I am all for useing what you can to fix them up. mine was a 63 with 68 rear sunroof clip added on. i made it work. came out just fine.
i still think a bright blue color with 2.0 liter wheels would be bitchen. yes i said bitchen! |

so ive spotted a few sources, but the first thing i need to do is a new wiring harness for this thing. two questions: one is, if i were planning to put a type 4 motor in eventually, would i need a specific harness. and two, any suggestions based on experience in where to find/buy a harness? |

I used a "Rebel Wire" VW kit/harness- universal for Bug and type 3- all wires are long enough except maybe the group that runs over the top of the fuel tank (not tight - but would be in the way when removing the tank)-- easy to hook up (so aid my mechanic - I hate electrical) and uses color coded/labeled wires and modern blade fuses. _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

This pic is a major conflict. It shows both the early (67 and earlier) front wall with a hole for the fuel filler neck, and the 68-69 inner right fender with a fuel filler neck installed.
What I'm guessing, is that someone replaced the entire inner right fender sheet metal with 1 off of a 68 or 69 type 3 (might have had an accident in that area). They might have been done it, so they didn't have to lift the front hood to fuel the car, or just because it was available. Don't know which though. Either way, you have a 67 and or earlier body shell. The chassis VIN on the tunnel is the number you want to use.
Should be a cool project though.
As for the wiring harness, it getting a t-4 engine won't make a difference, as you'll still need to add/lengthen a couple of wires in the engine bay to do the engine conversion. Nobody makes a new harness just for that conversion either, so you basically start with the stock harness, and adjust from there. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I like that one a lot, but are you sure it's a late model? I see 5 lug and no fuel door. Maybe it's just another "here's a pile of parts, let's see what i can make out of it" car. _________________

That is strange, as I do see a fuel door! I like the looks of it too as a baja pickup. You want me to go get you a price for it?

I can see the fuel door now. I'd love to have a price on it, but right now I have no money. Maybe it's a late body on an early pan. _________________
