I bought a 1.8 from headflow masters off the classifieds here. It's in Huntington beach and I'm on the outer banks of North Carolina. I've hired freight center.com to handle the shipping. They failed to make the pickup twice this week. I'm tired of them wasting mine and the sellers time. Any of yall have a recommendation on who to use. Engine is crated up and ready to go. It's going from residence to residence with a liftgate truck. _________________ 71 super auto stick basically original minus a couple resprays

Call your local wrecking yard and see who they would recommend. |

Both good thoughts but there is no such thing as a wrecking yard anywhere near me. I didn't buy the engine from Adrian, I bought it slightly used with 8k miles on it. I did talk to Adrian and he has great shipping rates but he only ships to terminals. The closest shipping terminal to me is a two hour drive each way. So I'm just trying to figure another option. Living on a barrier island is great....most of the time!lol _________________ 71 super auto stick basically original minus a couple resprays

Sometimes Greyhound bus is a good way to ship oversize packages. Not sure in your case though. Have you simply tried googling "engine shipping"? _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Yeah sure did, closest greyhound terminal is an hour and half each way. Guess I just better hope who I already hired does their job, frustrating it should have been here already but instead it hasn't even been picked up! _________________ 71 super auto stick basically original minus a couple resprays

Just get on the phone to trucking companies near you. They can tell you what companies they get industrial goods from. Most likely you will need to have it shipped from terminal to terminal and then have a local company bring it from there. You might do better by having the engine shipped back to Adrian for refreshing, then have him ship to you. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

GEX, ounce shipped a type 4 1800 cc engine from California to Greensboro, NC, by UPS. Worth a try, but this was in 1987, iirc. Peace, and good luck! |

I tried contacting the two companies that bring me stuff from my distributor for my pool business. Wilson-doesn't do out west, and southeastern won't pick up from a residence. So I'm kinda stuck, ups will do it for like $1500!! The engine was built Dec of 2013 and only has 8k miles so I'm hoping I'd doesn't need any refreshing! _________________ 71 super auto stick basically original minus a couple resprays

Call around to shipping companies, wrecking yards and such close to where the engine is sitting. Once the engine is on their truck the company that picks the engine up will arrange get it to you, that is their business. |

Adrian uses Scott at MI Logistics. I shipped my engine to and from Adrian without a problem.

Several people on a dirtbike forum I used to frequent used ForwardAir to ship crated bikes around the US when making interstate sales.
Don't have any personal experience but it worth a shot to check out. _________________ '75 Westfalia Camper FI 1.8L

we tried u-ship for furniture and it was a joke. I had 2 bids. One was 10x the going rate and the other wouldn't have paid gas 500 miles, and the guy had never shipped. We got one more a few weeks later asking if we could wait 2 months and they might be able to do it. By then we had used a U-haul container from Raleigh to Sacramento. I think that would be too expensive and large for what you need. As Mike suggested call a local wrecking yard or maybe parts for a local car dealer. See how they get big parts shipped to them. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Thanks everyone, I talked to freight center today. I'm gonna give them one more shot at it on Thursday. Told them after that I'll just take my money and try someone else. Thanks again, feel free to keep throwing out ideas, don't have my engine yet! Lol what a headache💩 _________________ 71 super auto stick basically original minus a couple resprays

When I received my engine from Adrian it was shipped via FedEX, but I had to pick it up at their terminal. It was on a pallet and they loaded it into my pickup for me. If you contact FedEX Freight I bet they could help you out. Not sure, but I want to say it was about $125-$150ish from Cali. to Philly area, but don't quote me on that. _________________ - 1977 CEI Sunroof Bus 2.0L F.I. Hydraulic Lifters
