|
|
Im finally putting the engine back in my '74 and since I didn't do the disassembly I have a couple of wires Im trying to figure out.
The wires in question are the green with the red stripe and the brown with the green stripe. I think one of the two goes to the oil pressure sending unit..not sure which. Can't seem to find this color combo in any of my manuals. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

also double check that wire on the coil, looks like you have the ignition positive and the coil negative on the same post. Black isn't ground on VWs brown is |

I have the power wire from the ignition on the positive side of the coil and the red wire from the Allison XR700 on the positive side of the coil. The negative side of the coil I have the black from the XR700. This thing was running when I pulled the motor now I have nothing. Im considering going back to points and condenser.. Is my wiring correct you think? |

The green/red wire is for the oil switch. The small grey/green wire is a diagnostic test connector for the coil and does not need to be connected. It would have been connected to the negative side of the coil. |
