Announcing:
Syncro Safari, Tahoe '15
July 12 - 18, 2015
We're excited to have reserved campsites and made a plan for Syncro Safari this summer.
The event will be in the Lake Tahoe region where we'll camp, go 4-wheeling, and experience all sorts of other Lake Tahoe fun. Not all the details are baked yet, but what information we have is at:
http://www.syncrosafari.org/tahoe-15---overview.html
We anticipate that registration will be open for 10 Syncros on Sunday, March 1st, but as more information is nailed down that may change, so stay tuned. We'll post information at the
www.SyncroSafari.org
website and also here at TheSamba , and on both the Syncro and SyncroSafari Yahoo groups.

A little more information I've found about activities in the Lake Tahoe area in addition to Syncro 4WD trails.
We'll have the opportunity to enjoy many activity choices the area has to offer including kayaking, swimming, beaches, fishing, biking, hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, photography, horseback riding.
Even sailboat rentals, sailboat cruises and parasailing are available.
More to come...
Check http://www.syncrosafari.org/ once in a while for more info.

|
|
I've got the "Trails" section of the Syncro Safari, Tahoe '15 website up at:
http://www.syncrosafari.org/tahoe-15---trails.html
We're planning on three days during Safari week with trail rides. The tentative plan is:
Mt. Watson - very short, easy
Genoa Peak - medium, easy-moderate
McKinney Creek / Blackwood Canyon - most of a day, moderate
I'd like to get advice from those that have been on these trails or other in the area. The plan is still developing and I'd love to get feedback from those with 4WD experience in this area before the plan "gels" too much.
Looking at difficulty level, length, views, good lunch areas, items of historic or geologic interest along the trail. We expect to have a caravan of 10 Syncros for "family friendly Four-wheeling".
Who knows this area and would like to provide some trail guidance?
Thanks!

|
|
This information about registration for Syncro Safari, Tahoe ’15 is also available here:
http://www.syncrosafari.org/tahoe-15---overview.html
Registration will be open for this event on Sunday, March 1 at 6:00PM Pacific Time.
Before registration opens, feel free to email and express your interest, and ask questions, but you will not be able to register yet. I'd love to hear from you vie email if you think you'll register.
We will be able to accommodate 10 Syncros at this event.
Cost is $180 per Syncro.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
If you'd like to participate, follow the registration process. If the event is full, you'll be placed on the waiting list. We usually have at least one or two cancellations / no-shows, so the waiting list is definitely useful.
Registration is available for those who can commit to participate for the entire week-long event. If the spots don't get taken after a while, part-time attendance might be arranged.
Registration works like this: Five easy steps...
1. Check out the information about this trip and previous Syncro Safaris. Decide that you'd like to participate and have a great time.
2. Email Jim Davis at SyncroHead at aol dot com and say that you would like to attend and you'd like one of the available spots.
3. If a spot is still available, I will let you know and email you the following:
A. Registration Form
B. "Bring List - Personal Items"
C. "Bring List - 4x4 Items"
D. "Vehicle Prep List"
E. "Don't Bring List"
F. "Ecological Values"
G. My mailing address and on-line registration link
If all the spots are already taken, a waiting list will be created of others interested in attending.
(Steps 4 & 5 would then be "on hold" for waiting list entries.)
4. You print and complete the Registration Form and mail (old fashioned snail mail) two things:
A. Completed Registration Form
B. Your share of the costs: $180/Syncro
-- OR --
4a. Complete on-line registration with the link and password that will be provided in the registration packet email. (NEW for 2015!)
5. I will email you confirmation that I've received your form and camping fee and that your spot is secured.
Cancellations: Please consider these costs to be non-refundable. If you must cancel, and IF a replacement is found for your spot, then all or part of your money may be returned. There's no guarantee of finding a replacement, so please understand that your money may not be refunded if you can't attend.
BE PREPARED
1. You'll be expected to bring gear as indicated on the 4x4 Vehicle "Bring List".
http://www.syncrosafari.org/4x4-items.html
and make certain your vehicle is in shape for the adventure, but reviewing the Vehicle Preparation List.
http://www.syncrosafari.org/vehicle-preparation.html
Since a breakdown or getting stuck will result in delays for the entire group, we want to be as prepared as possible for these circumstances. Once trail plans are finalized, more specifics will be provided on what's absolutely required and if any items might be optional.
2. Proper personal items are important. Please come prepared with these: Personal Items List
http://www.syncrosafari.org/personal-items-list.html
COSTS
Cost is $180 per Syncro. As is the norm with Syncro Safari events, the cost to participate is determined by dividing up the event costs we incur. This is primarily camping fees, but also includes some additional expenses for the event.
The full cost of your share of the event will be required to hold your spot at time of registration. Please don't ask if an IOU is acceptable. Sorry.
Cancellations: Please consider these costs to be non-refundable. If you must cancel, and IF a replacement is found for your spot, then all or part of your money may be returned. There's no guarantee of finding a replacement, so please understand that your money may not be refunded if you can't attend.
Regards,
Jim Davis

I'm happy to report that this year's adventure appears to be quite popular and the 10 spots were filled within minutes after registration opened. I've added another campsite to accommodate the 11th and 12th Syncros.
Right now there is a waiting list. Almost always someone drops out, so the waiting list is actually useful.
Looks like we'll have a great time in Tahoe in July and I might get photos posted by December!
