Thanks!
I decided to make a modification to the shifter before I re-install it. The Powerglide transmission that I am using has a transbrake and a manual valvebady. That said, I will be shifting back and forth between 1st and 2nd gear a lot. The shifter, in stock form, allows you to slip it from 2nd to neutral without depressing the shift button, as most shifters do. However, to get it back in to 2nd (Drive) you must depress the button. I can see winding up in neutral by accident, often, so I drilled and tapped the shift gate to create a neutral lock out.
Machined the tip of a 10-24 grade 8 bolt
and affixed it to create the lock out.
The shifter and bracket are ready to go back in.

I managed to get a few things done on the Single Cab Street Rod today. I pulled the distributor and spun the oil pump to prime the engine. Also started installing the carb but had to order a few parts to finish the job. I started up the ZZ5 crate motor in Daihatsu HiJet which is the same type that is installed in the Single Cab. Here is a video clip of it firing up for the first time if you want to hear what it sounds like!

Took a break from the wiring today to finish up all the welding near the empty gas tank. Welded in support frame work for removable body panels. Still have more to go. Just want to be able to put gas in the tank when the wiring is finished so that I can fire it up

Got something done on several things today.
Routed the negative battery cable in conduit under the cab, but ran out of clamps. The wiring is mostly complete at this point!
Stripped the original seat frames of what was left of seat covers. Went over everything with a wire wheel on an angle grinder and sprayed them with some rusty metal primer.
Rough cut some sheet metal to fill in the inside of the rear fenders. Going to roll some beads into them and then weld in. This is the last of the welding that needs to be done before I can put gas in the tank.

The wiring harness is done and installed. Hope to test it tomorrow as well as fix a few imperfections in the steering wheel.
