Here you go!

My vaneless ps pump/idler pulley experiment cratered. Apparently the bearing needs forced circulation to keep it lubricated. Removed the pump and installed a shorter belt. so far, so good.

We have had a few weeks of 100+ degree days lately so I repurposed a huge transmission cooler as a supplemental radiator and installed it in the right side air scoop. The temp was fine around town but prolonged 70 mph rides on the highway were pushing the temp over 210 a bit. The heater hoses feed the cooler with shut off valves for the winter.

Also needed to get the V8 Bug running again, so I have been spending some time on rust repairs and reassembly.

I am making a big push to get this truck finished up. I have it up on the lift to cross things off a long list of minor items. I am also going to pull the cab off to finish up some welding on the underside.

First on the list is sectioning out a 4" section of the under seat A/C compartment. It is deeper than I need and cuts into my ground clearance.

Also, finally trimming off the bottoms of the doors and moving the lower hinge up a few inches

Here are a few shots of the underside.

Todays progress. I was able to finish sectioning the A/C Compartment. The front and back are welded in. I am going to wait to get the cab off before welding the sides.

The vents will eventually go out the front of the compartment and up thru the floor

Made the final rough cut on the bottom of the door

Also cut out the lower hinge. Tomorrow I will clean up the metal around it and relocate it up a couple of inches.

Spent the entire day moving the lower hinge on the passenger door, as well as capping off the lower section of the door.

First, I had to modify the mounting pad to angle the hinge

Cut a piece of 3/16" flat bar to weld to the new mount area. Tapped the holes to accept the stock screws.

Then trim up the door to accept the original hinge mount section from the further down door.

The hinge is in place

Cut out a piece of metal to cap off the bottom of the door

Welded in along with a piece of small round bar to give it a blunt edge

Just need to finish off the bottom of the nose where it meets the door and fab a channel on the inside of the door to accept weather strip along the bottom

Yes, they are spring loaded and indexed so they swivel and lock in place

Awesome footage you have taken of the Show.Only got a very short glimpse of your Bus though.Looks like it travels well on the freeways.Lucky you didn't cause traffic chaos with people trying to get a look at it.

I have never been completely sold on the headlights on the truck so I have tried a few others. First I made some brackets to mount the lights to the spindles so that they will move with the wheels

First I tried some Model A reproductions but felt they were too far apart and too conservative

Also spent some time with the originals lights and buckets

And some motorcycle headlights that could move with the steering

Or possibly mount the individual lights thru the nose at an angle to follow the body line

Thoughts?

Can we see another angle on the Model A lights mounted to the spindles? Seeing them from the side or above at any angle would maybe help.

I am curious what you did not like about the swiveled headlights. I thought it was very cool and unique. It added to the one of a kind look of the vehicle. Cool
