TX - Lake Belton: Texas Busfest - October 9-11, 2015
Hey guys, I just posted up the event info for Texas Busfest in the Events sections. This event is a huge VW camping event here in Texas. There's usually about 100 or so buses/vans in attendance which makes for a great time!
Vanagon attendance in previous years
2012: 9 Vanagons
2013: 13 Vanagons
2014: 16 Vanagons
2015: 28 Vanagons (Final Count!)
I've been telling all of our members about this event since its kinda to the go to event for Vanagons since this is the one event thats had the biggest turnout so far. Hopefully we can get 20-30 Vanagons there this year!

Contest Announcement
================
Hipcamp, an organization based in California is having a big camping event in the Austin Hill Country on Saturday September 19th. This is a private invite only celebration and I've been contacted by the organizers as they'd like to give away 4 special invites to TexasVanagons. I'll be attending the event and they'd love to have 5 Vanagons in attendance. In fact one of the California based organizers owns a Vanagon Westy so hence the interest in sharing some Vanagon love with us!

If camping out in the woods with other like minded strangers for food, drink and music sounds like your kinda night then sign up for the contest! Hipcamp will randomly select 4 winners and we'll notify you as soon as possible.

Texas Busfest was a blast! We had a great Vanagon turnout. Eventhough we had a few vanagons cancel at the last minute we still managed to get 28 Vanagons in attendance. This is the most Vanagons ever for a Texas VW Event.
The total vehicle count was 101 so its awesome that more than 25% of that was Vanagons.
Vanagon attendance in previous years
2012: 9 Vanagons
2013: 13 Vanagons
2014: 16 Vanagons
2015: 28 Vanagons
Here's 24 of the 28 attended. I missed getting photos of the remain 4 Vans.

Reminder: We are one week from the Mustang Island State Park Texas Vanagons Campout on 20 February. This will be our last reminder. The weather still looks excellent—sunny and 70 degrees on Saturday—and I hope to see many of you there. We’ll be traveling with our two cats in the van! Saturday night’s menu: beach pizza on the Vanagon's Magma grill! A Texas Vanagons meetup special!
Tips for driving on sand: don’t be afraid to deflate your tires to 15 psi to increase the tire footprint and your traction (carry an air compressor to reinflate); maintain momentum and a straight line through difficult areas; work the accelerator and brake gently; turn around only in areas of high confidence, and make broad turns. I’ll have an air compressor and a tow strap for anyone needing help!
