|
|
So I want to add a few gauges to my car but the brake light button is in the way. What does this even do ? Does it it just tell me if I loose brake pressure ?
I rewired my car this winter so I was thinking of just leaving it connected behind the dash so I can install gauges in that area. Any reason why I wouldn't want to do this ?
This is what I mean when I say brake button not sure what the correct term is
and yes that's just paint to look like wood grain |

It Is a warning light, in the case either brake light switch doesn't function(in other words front or rear brake circuit is Not functioning... ).. Or at least that's how I understand it.
I'd say you can relocate it to another spot on the dash, to have it provide early warning to you, as it was intended..
I moved mine when I did gauges... There will be room.
And Great paint work there for the Faux wood!! I figured it was vinyl! _________________ '74 Thing, "Our Thing"....

GI Joe, that's a great looking dash! Looks like a tack, amp. and oil pres.
I was thinking oil temp also, but not sure if there is room. is the tack helpful?
was thinking not using.
Thanks |

I see you moved the hazard to the left side of the steering wheel. Mine has a plugged hole right there. Any chance do you remember if the hazard fit in the hole without modification? |

It's easy enough to re-create the little dimple adjacent to the hole, which keeps the body of the switch from rotating, once the trim bezel is tightened.
I think the hazard switch body has 4 grooves (allowing 4 different possibilities for the little dimple) so the switch body can be mounted at "3-6-9-12 o'clock".
Here's a photo of a dash with almost everything re-located:
Good luck, Mondshine |

Ok GIJoe I guess your dash inspired me to put my 3 gauges on the right side. Only thing is I damaged the paint enough that I had to redo the finish. Decided to go back to plain so I had the parts powder coated.
