1978 Super Beetle Fuel Injected - Engine Sensor 113-979-101

I just received a new crate engine for fuel injection engine. On the new engine casing, this sensor in the picture (or port) is not on the new engine casing. What does this sensor do?

If I'm not mistaken that is the TDC sensor which is only used as part of the VW computer diagnostic network in the car that VW started installing in the mid '70s. It doesn't have anything to do with the fuel injection and is not needed unless you are going to travel back in time and plug your car into the diagnostic machine at a VW dealer in 1978.

My engine has the connector in the bell housing, but someone crushed it up.
