Anyone out there have an original owner's manual that they could measure for me? I'm working on a project. Thanks in advance! |

Thank you very much Billy! I'm taking the 73 manual from here and printing it to scale so I have one. Now if I can figure out how to make a customer ID card for the back I'm going to be set! Thank you again! |

Thanks to GB I now have my first attempt at a replica 73 VW Thing Owner's Manual. I am trying to find some where that can print it so that the construction and spline is the same as an original. Office Max has said they could do it, I just need to get by there to get an estimate.
I laminated the front cover so it wouldn't get messed up as I printed it on ordinary printer paper.
I took the file from The Samba's site and edited out the hand writing and made the Warranty Page Blank so I could fill in my information. I also did this to the Owner's Information Page as well.
The pages are not quit brand new looking and have that faded yellow look from the original file but I think it adds character.
My next project on this is to see if I can find a VW Dealer that still has or will make me a VW Owner's ID card to put in the back page pocket.
Thanks again to GB who helped me out and The Samba site for making the file available. I see a lot of ads for these things and people are charging way too much for something as simple as a reprint. |

Here are the pictures of the customers ID card. Sure would be nice to find the orginal owner and return the book to the orginal Thing. The card is 3 1/2 X 13/4 and looks llike a credit card the way it is embossed. Nothing on the back.
