Since no one yet has posted what your looking for in a front engine trike, I thought I would give your thread a bump with a front engine Motorcycle.
VW motors don't always have to be behind the driver or rider I agree!
Motor under and in front of the rider
Another one
And another one
OR? Three wheels with a motor up front

I am not a fan of trikes, but wow that one is awesome. Good visual balance all around. |

Front engine trikes are in the configuration that God intended for trikes...never did care for the rear engine = 3-wheeled VW configuration (something about 3-legged pigs comes to mind) _________________ 1965 Type 1 sunroof Baja / about 70k miles on self-rebuilt '74 1600 and counting / SP heads and aftermarket valve keepers / non-doghouse shroud with external cooler and filter / 1.5 qt extended sump / Weber 32/36 DFAV progressive carb / 009 dist with Pertronix / 1.25 ratio rockers and ball adjusters / 1.5" stainless steel J-pipes and carbon steel baja exhaust |

Was hoping to see some more front engine trikes.
Would like me an amazonas but never even seen one in real life.
Have seen the vw beemers.
The type 4 bike is cool. I have seen a type 1 on you tube that was very similar.
Mine is a pile of parts right now. Has been fun for quite a few years.
It has been a 2110 since the 80's
Going back together as a 2387 now. |

Your trike style is the only way I would own one. I like its looks and functionality! I could $#!t Loads of fun with that ride!
When you wrote

Trust me it was almost two decades before I found this one. I have only taken it to one VW show and a Vintage motorcycle show now that its back together and a runner. One of the first comments I heard was made to me by a die hard VW guy who said " Dude that Bike is a Unicorn, cant believe I have now seen one in person" |

Ok... sorry I had to go back and look.
I had read your adventures a while back.
I did not make the connection at first.
Yes indeed a cool unicorn that no one else has here.
I was trolling around looking for folks who hot rod these things in light trikes or bikes.
Wondering how much cam and gear I can run in this thing.
The guys over in the performance thread have not been much help when it comes to my odd app.
Motors getting bigger and I finally made a decision on a cam. When with a fk10.
Ever run a big stroker in a 850 lb bike? |

The only guy I know building crazy fast BIG horsepower VW bikes is Bud Burkey out of Tenn. That is his Blown type four in the pic's above with all the color and chrome. There are others. He is an old time racer and everything he puts his stink on comes out over the top bitchin and functional!
With your motor location so centered, you must really hook up on launches. I guess wheelie bars are on option with that big of a motor so you don't roll over on your back would be a good idea.
I was hoping more would post this style of trike.
You are in my same boat. We run VW motors, but were not a Bug, Bus, Type whatever, so we play from the outside the box. Generally I find most VW gear heads show acceptance. The diehard, original only or nothing people cant wrap their heads around this stuff. |

It will easily pull the front wheel. But not like a rear engine would.
I don't dump the clutch on it. So many homemade pieces on the drive extension that I don't want to break.
No where near turbo or blower level of power.
With the increase is displacement from 2110 to 2387 I am also going fuel injected and distributer less.
I am running big gears compared to the car guys.
Normal 1 and 2
1.26 3rd
.82 fourth
And a 3.44 ring and pinion
All I am told is too much gear for the cam.
I don't think they understand just how fast this thing blows through the gears.
I may wind up putting taller tires on it.

Swing axle.
Upside down and backwards.
Modified quite a bit inside.

Looks like you have two transaxles grafted together, that must have taken some serious work! Was that to get the engine farther forward?
Did you consider running a Type 4 engine with the exhaust ports that exit down? Might even have been able to retain its cooling fan and shroud. |

I had the type 1 stroker in a bug prior to the motorcycle.
Somehow I have gotten away with the no fan.

I guess not many do this kinda stuff just for a toy. Plenty easier ways to go about getting in the wind.
But anyway.......
My fuelie project.
Hand made intakes and Mikuni throttle bodies from a zx12.
