|
|
Every time I get an update email on the topic 'Operation X Volksrod' the link it provides me leads to an error page that claims 'the topic or post you requested does not exist' and I can partly see why- the link is wrong. The general topic link still works, but the newest post link does not. I've tried un-watching and re-watching but it hasn't made a bit of difference. Notably, it's only this particular topic that has this problem, none of the others I watch have a problem. Hopefully this is the right area to post this, and it isn't too difficult a problem to fix! Thanks. _________________ Two Bugs-

Will do. And yeah, the post getting deleted would explain it if it happened with other posts and/or hadn't been three updates in a row. Hopefully you can cross-check the linked posts with existing and/or deleted ones from that topic. Thanks for the quick reply! _________________ Two Bugs-

For the record..
I DID delete my last new post yesterday.... and then reposted edited later in the eve..
I do that on that topic.. to keep from adding updated post after post after post on top of post... at the end..
I guess it screws up the "last post" email link....for the first "topic watching" email that was sent..
I have done that a few times... in that topic...
Sorry.. its just my OCD kickin in... .
Gee a whole new topic about me causing problems... Go figure....

Ah, perhaps it would work better to simply edit the post rather than deleting and posting anew? Either way, it's not a big issue- I can just click the topic link and hop to the last page once I'm there. I just wanted to be sure the site wasn't having problems. After all, this site has the fewest problems of any I use! _________________ Two Bugs-

True... but.. if my previous last post happens to be a bit old... deleting and reposting with fresh.. .. pops the topic back up to the top.. while editing keeps it mired in the mix...
Either way.... You know where to go to find us..

I've been having trouble with my Samba emails in AOL the last few days, what would normally be a highlighted link are no longer, I have to copy and paste the link to go to watched forums topics / ad alerts.
its the same on my phone , home computer and laptop, So don't know if its a problem with AOL or something with the Samba ?
I've checked my emails setting and all looks OK
It only Samba emails that have disabled links |

A couple other AOL people have asked me about this too.
It must be AOL breaking it.
The highlighting of the links is not something the site does, this is a function of your email reader.
So if it's not working, it's AOL or their email program breaking it.
They work fine for me in my email program (Thunderbird) _________________ How to Post Photos

Hotmail still processes the links properly too, just FYI. _________________ Two Bugs-

About two to three weeks ago the Samba Alerts that I received now have "non-clickable" links to the alerted ad (I can copy and paste them into a new tab/window, but this is inconvenient).
The Samba links in email we receive were always "clickable" before.
We use AOL mail.
We use Macintosh not PCs.
The links in all messages from everyone else are "clickable".
We have not changed our computer privacy or security settings.
I emailed Everett and he said it must be AOL. Any ideas on how to fix this? _________________ Search my other want ads. A wise man once said, "Do unto others, as you would have done unto you". We should all try that.

I did hear back from AOL support, the first couple emails they suggested clearing Cookies and cashes from my computer
then suggested I check my mail setting to confirm that I didn't have my
"Disable links in mail from unknown senders" option checked
I had done all that before contacting AOL with no results
the last email they told me there are some glitches there working on
Redlocker - I suggest you contact the AOL email support to aleast report the problem

Thank you for contacting back the AOL Email Support Team.
We apologize, however, there was an issue with our email service that may have caused the issues you are describing. At this time that problem has been identified and is being addressed.
While we cannot provide a specific time when the issue will be resolved, please be assured that our team is working to correct it as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we recommend you to switch versions of AOL Mail from Standard to Basic/Accessible – Switching versions may help refresh your AOL Mail access. If you see your username at the top right corner, you’re using the Standard version and if it’s on the top left, you’re using either the Basic/Accessible version. To switch from the Standard version to the Basic version, please refer to our Help article AOL Mail: Features and Actions, in the section “Mailbox Tips”, the sub-section entitled: “How do I switch between versions of AOL Mail (Basic Version, Accessible Version, and Standard Version)” and follow the steps provided.
Again our apologies and thank you for your patience.
Best regards,
Anna

Thanks for the tip empiracer.
When I switched to the AOL Basic version, the links were all clickable and they all worked. When I switched back to the newer version, they were still non-clickable.
I will also let the AOL email support team know I am experiencing the same problem. _________________ Search my other want ads. A wise man once said, "Do unto others, as you would have done unto you". We should all try that.

Still no response back from AOL email support... but my links are now clickable again.
One thing I tried that might have fixed it, normally I do not turn my laptop computer off. When the battery goes dead, I put it on the charger, it comes back to life, and I let it there until it recharges. This is how I almost always treat my battery.
Yesterday, I totally shut down the computer for about an hour. Then I restarted it and opened AOL email. When I opened a Samba alert message, the links were clickable.
My logic was when our router acts up, we turn it off for a few minutes and then restart it. That always fixes it. Well it seems that fixed my Samba email issues as well. _________________ Search my other want ads. A wise man once said, "Do unto others, as you would have done unto you". We should all try that.
