When I purchased my 74 Thing it had vintage coco floor mats that were faded and falling apart. I wanted to replace them and I found that The Thing Shop sells replacements but colors available are gold and red, no orange. I found another supplier making custom mats with orange available but price was many time higher and they needed me to send them a templates even thought they showed pictures of Thing mats on their web site and advertised that they had 100's of patterns. I decided to try dyeing Thing Shop gold mats with orange die. The mats turned out great! The dye came from Amazon.

Agreed! Looks awesome! What did you dye them in? How big was the tub? _________________ '74 Thing [Fritz]

I used a metal mortar pan as a dye tub. The mats were actually a bit smaller than the pan, but I moved them back and forth so they stayed saturated with the dye solution. I imagine that a wheel barrow would work as well. Best to stay out our the laundry sink.....
