I had a guy follow me home once. (OK, it wasn't home. It was my pot dealers house). He said he'd seen me before and tried to catch up to me, but couldn't. He had a few old fenders and assorted VW parts at his house he was gonna crush, but offered them to me for free. Late model fenders, pretty beat up, but I took 'em anyways, just because he went through the effort to give them to me. _________________ sent from a phone using poor grammar and spelling |

That's a good ending Bob- I've had similar events live, but I certainly stand a better chance of sizing you up in person rather than via CL. Last weekend, I got chased by an old friend in a Scion and he said something like, "that bug needs a rack!" So of course I replied sure does, how much is it going to cost me? I followed him home and $80 later I've got the right rack on my '63, and the correct ragtop model rack on my '62 where it belongs.
Good news to report! Through a couple exchanged text messages, this fellow, Jesse, is legit. He linked me to his website, barnfind.com, and then I followed it up with a confessionary phone call.
I called to say "I confess, I own that car" and he was very understanding and cool about it. I told him how protective I am- and insanely so for my family. Now I've got another contact in the local car spotting scene, and he has another contact as well. Good all around- and he did say he'll pull the CL ad.
Thanks for the help guys! I'm sure I'll get my panties in a bunch again sometime... _________________

I've had more people run me down on the road when driving VW's than I can count. Drove them as daily drivers for 25 plus years. Some were very odd but all were harmless. Luck? Maybe. |

I hope it's more than luck- because they are risking something by chasing you down- You could be a psycho Hitest in training! We've all had the 25 minute gas fill up delays. This just caught me strangely because it was the first time a CL ad was placed to headhunt my car. Sadly, The hunter was neither Ginger nor Mary Ann- just a guy... _________________
