Hi everybody,
please, can someone help me identify the year for this 1500 emblem?
I have seen that it is not the same as the early 1500 emblems...the number five on mine is not the typical "big" as in the early badges...
I am pretty sure this is a N.O.S. part and not a repop.
Thanks!

That was my first thought too. Laughing But I couldn't find any pics to confirm.
But I'm sure I've seen that somewhere, but not on a VW. I've never seen a VW 1500 emblem where the bar gets fatter in the middle.
But what do I know. Confused

No, it's not a Fiat badge.

Again- any part numbers or markings on it?

So far I'm sure it's not BMW, Opel, Borgward, Lada, Datsun, Volvo, Triumph, Austin, MG, Audi, or European Ford.

the dual taper underline is the key. Tram, wasn't the rear engine BMW a 1500?

I saw this same exact badge listed for sale on eBay out of Italy (I think) about 2 years ago. The seller showed the early 'correct large 1500' badge that we all recognise in the advert and this 'wrong 1500' is what turned up.

I promptly returned all of them to the seller (think I purchased about 10 of them) and got a refund.

Not sure what they are either but the seller of those almost refused to believe they were not the large 1500 badge and was misrepresenting them in his advert. Beware.

No, the 1500 was the boxy sedan (notchback) with a conventional front engine. The rear engined vintage BMW was either a 600 ("big" Isetta) or a 700, which was also a small notchback.

Here's a good shot of the rear of the 1500 showing its emblem, which is not like that from the OP-

I do not recall there being any part numbers or identifiers on the rear of the badge.

The early large 1500 badge has the following on the back:
VW 311 853 691 Pu.C

The VW is the circular VW emblem

The early larger front emblem has no part # on the back

I can't get a super clear pic of the badge on Google, but Simca looks like a real possibility.

I don't think so. Of course, like the Type 3, they may have changed the badge style.
