There are a lot of Home Page Random collections which I try to rotate. Every time I put the "On Fire" collection on the home page, there are complaints of how upsetting it is. If there is enough consensus that people don't want me to use it, I will remove it from the rotation.

On Fire collection:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/randoms_detail.php?c=fire

There is an existing thread for ongoing discussion, comments, or questions for the home page randoms collections: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=527294
I'm just going to keep this poll and thread open temporarily.

If you prefer to contact me privately, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

I say leave it, grow a pair if you can't accept reality.
It's a grim reminder to check out your beloved VW.
If you start removing everything that offends our PW society now, you might as well not have anything there Laughing

What he said.

Maybe it will get people to maintain their cars and carry a fire extinguisher.

In 41 years of driving my VW, I have never had a fire. I've put out many other cars but never mine.

BTW... the majority seen to be Buses... I wonder why?

Personally this one looks yummy.

I first became familiar with Beetles during the 1960's.

They had engine fires then and they had engines fires throughout their run. It seems that once fuel injection arrived VW perfected engine fires right on through the Vanagon WBX production run.

They weren't alone, the early 1970`s Mercedes 450 series had a cold start valve that sprayed the distributor with fuel when it failed!

Show the fires, motivate people to take preventative measures.

Well of course I voted "no." It's fun when the "VW fact" rolls around to just the right "fire" car. Last night, next to a fastback flambeau shot, up popped: "In 1966, VW increased Type 3 accruements by adding a cigar lighter."

* this may not have actually happened..."

Another vote to leave the fires burning. It is in fact a STRONG reminder to do the correct preventative maintenance on our VW's.

What's sad is that with all the internet awareness about classic VW's and fires, there's still so many VW's that burn each year.

Let them burn. It is a part of life. Deal with it.

A VW fact....not a good fact but a fact...they burned several decades ago...and still do...and most if not all are preventable.....maybe the section will be a friendly reminder...maybe not

Keep the flames alive!
You can add this 'after' photo of my old van if you like.
The new owner had a small problem...supposedly not the fuel lines though.

I was most upset by the picture of a presumably water-cooled Golf that worked its way into the mix.

Ohhhh - you can't even come close to offending anyone anymore....So, Sean Penn makes a joke.....OMG non-Hispanics get in an uproar....About every day you see where someone said something that was not 1000% politically correct and people get there noses out of joint.

I wouldnt have the fire pics run all the time, but they should run periodically ...I actually think alternating bewteen the countless engine pics with fuel filters hanging off carbs and the fire pics would actually be better....

And if you are offened or upset...Grow the F up.. Yeah - I hate seeing nice cars trashed....Hell, when I was a kid and watched Goldfinger, I was totally bummed when they crushed the Lincoln. But I am a big boy now and can handle it.....

It burned so... should you be upset since it burned up?

Good point. And now that I think of it, if you posted pics of solely 412s burning, you annual samba donations would likely triple.

I am not a huge fan of tatoos......You should not post them anymore. I am upset and have to call my therapist........and then my attorney. I am sure I am permanently scarred from seeing them. Oh - that reminds me - have to run by McDonalds and dump hot coffee in my lap because the lady at the window does not tell me I am not supposed to do that. Then call the attorney again. Man, busy day ahead of me.
